Best law firm website design companies in 2026, compared
There is no single best law firm website design company. The right one depends on the firm's size, its budget, and whether it wants to own the site when it leaves. Below, twelve companies are sorted by type, with who each is built for and what a firm keeps when it leaves, and where UPWARD fits.
The market, by type
Twelve companies, sorted by type, never by preference.
Within each type, alphabetical. Every fact is from the company's own page, with the date we read it. Nothing here is a rating.

How to choose
Four kinds of company. Four honest trades.
Each type is right for some firm. Ask it the three questions that type least likes to answer.
- 01
The legal platform
Speed, against lock-in.
- If we leave, what do we keep: the domain, the content, the design?
- How long is the contract, and what happens at the end of it?
- Whose name is on the code and the accounts?
- 02
The builder
Doing it yourself, against your hours.
- Who on our team will write it, photograph it and keep it current?
- How many partner hours a month will it take to keep current?
- Can we export everything when we outgrow it?
- 03
The agency
Range, against tiers.
- Which tier are we in, and what does the next one add?
- Who does the work: the people in the pitch, or a production team?
- Will you write our story, or ask us to send the copy?
- 04
The boutique studio
Craft, against capacity.
- What is included, from the first conversation to launch?
- How many clients do you take at once?
- Can we call a firm you built for?
Where we fit
Where UPWARD fits, honestly.
Who we are for
- Reputation-first firms: defense, construction, commercial and boutique litigation.
- Firms that want to own the site, the code, the content and the accounts.
- Firms that want their story told, and their own people photographed.
Who we are not for
- Personal injury. We do not take that work.
- A firm that wants a template. A builder will serve it better.
- A firm that wants a vendor to hold the keys.
- More on website design for law firms.
- For small law firms.
- For solo attorneys.
- For Colorado law firms.
- Our work: law firm website examples.
- The long form: FindLaw against owning your site.
Fair questions
About choosing a company.
Is there a best law firm website design company? +
No single one. The right company depends on the firm's size, its budget, and whether it wants to own the site when it leaves. The table sorts the market by type, so a firm can start with the right kind of company.
Should we use FindLaw or Scorpion, or own our site? +
Ask any company what you keep when you leave: the domain, the content, the design and the code. The table shows what each company's own terms say. The long answer is in our journal.
What is AI search optimization, and who offers it? +
It is the work of making a firm the name AI assistants give when a buyer asks who to hire. The AI search column shows which companies say they offer it on their own sites.
How often is this page updated? +
Twice a year, and whenever a company changes what it publishes. The date each fact was read sits beside it in the table.
The ask
There is no single best. There is the one that fits your firm.
A conversation
One conversation, with the two of us. No account manager between you and the people who'd do the work. And if you're happy with what you've got, that's fine too.
Cody usually replies within a business day.
