UPWARD.

For firms that win on trust

The best firms don't chase clients. They get chosen.

Defense, construction, commercial, boutique litigation: firms whose names get passed between general counsel by hand. Your website's only job is to confirm what the referral already said. Most argue with it instead.

In brief

UPWARD is a Colorado studio that builds websites, brand story, and photography for reputation-first law firms: defense, construction, commercial, and boutique litigation. The firm owns the site, the content, the photographs, and the accounts outright, and can update any of it without asking a vendor for permission. UPWARD does not take personal injury work.

The vendor trap

Do you own your website, or do you rent it from a vendor who charges you to change a phone number?

  1. A template the vendor owns; you pay rent forever

You own the site, the words, the photographs. All of it

  2. Changes by ticket, billed by the touch

Changes in minutes: we manage it with you, not against you

  3. Stock lawyers shaking stock hands

Your actual attorneys, photographed like they argue: prepared

  4. “WE FIGHT FOR YOU” energy your best clients find embarrassing

Quiet authority. The firm that doesn't need to advertise

The firm that got out

They stopped asking permission to change their own site.

Knight MacKay Morrow is a premium litigation firm with offices across the country: complex matters, large corporate clients, and a reputation for handling what others can't. The kind of firm whose stature is obvious the moment you meet them.

Their website was not that moment. It lacked the aesthetics, the functionality, and the storytelling to carry the firm's caliber, and before UPWARD, keeping it current meant depending on someone else for every change. For a firm being evaluated by discerning corporate clients, the site was working against the record.

Underneath it, we architected a CMS that handles their world: attorneys, paralegals, practice areas, office locations, publishing, and job postings, all interconnected. The firm now updates its own site in minutes, with UPWARD as the partner behind it rather than a gatekeeper in front of it.

  • 100%In the firm's control: content updates in minutes, not tickets
  • 5+Interconnected content systems: people, practices, offices, insights, careers
  • 2Launch films: one for the firm, one for the market
The collaboration with UPWARD has been invaluable. The new website perfectly captures the essence of Knight MacKay Morrow and elevates our digital presence to match our real-world stature. It's a vital tool in our growth strategy and helps us maintain our competitive edge in a challenging industry.

All the Work

Ask us how any of it happened, or better, ask them. Every client on this page is referenceable.

The work UPWARD did for our firm exceeded expectations. Our new website not only looks incredible, but it truly represents who we are and the level of service we provide. Cody took the time to understand our firm, refine our messaging, and provide us with insights into the digital landscape that will benefit us for years to come.

How engagements work

From a free Mirror to a website worthy of the referral.

What managing partners ask us

Fair questions, straight answers.

How is UPWARD different from FindLaw, Scorpion, or the other legal-vendor platforms? +

Those platforms rent you a template and keep the keys. We build a site you own outright, tell your story to the clients you actually want, shoot real photography of your people, and stay on as a partner rather than a gatekeeper. One of our longest-standing clients came to us specifically to escape a vendor who charged them to change a phone number.

Do we own our website when it's done? +

Completely. The site, the content, the photography, the accounts: all yours. We manage it for you on partnership terms because that's easier for you, not because you're locked in. You can leave anytime and take everything with you. Nobody stays hostage here.

What does a law firm website cost with UPWARD? +

Full builds, including story, design, and real photography, begin around $15,000, and ongoing partnerships begin at $950 per month. Firms with more offices, practice groups, or media needs invest more. If that range fits, start free with the Mirror, then go deeper with the Trust Audit: a human-reviewed diagnostic from $1,500 that we credit in full toward your build.

Can you make us show up when clients ask AI who to hire? +

That's exactly the game we play, and we can show you receipts. One Denver litigation client now gets named by AI answer engines for their specialty in Colorado, after two years of deliberate structure, content, and authority work. Start with the free Mirror: we'll show you what AI says about your firm today.

How long does a rebuild take? +

Most firm engagements run eight to twelve weeks from first conversation to launch: story first, then design, then photography, then build. We take on a small number of clients at a time on purpose, so the work gets real attention.

Do you work with firms outside Colorado? +

Yes. Colorado's Front Range is home and where we shoot most often, but we've built for firms in Kansas City, Texas, and beyond. For photography we come to you.
