03 · What they share

Different firms, different cities, one way of working. It is the same approach behind all of our website design for law firms.

The story is written before a page is designed.

We start with who actually hires the firm and what they need to believe before they call. Only then do we draw a screen.

The photographs are of the firm's own people.

Real attorneys in their real offices, shot on location by us. Never stock, never a skyline any firm could use. Trust is a face.

The firm owns the site, the code and the content.

The accounts too, and the photographs are the firm's to use however it sees fit. A firm can change any of it without asking us, and leave with all of it.

The site is built to be read by search engines and AI assistants.

Under every page sits the structure that tells machines what the firm does and for whom, so it is named when a buyer asks.

Fair questions

About these examples.

Can we see more? +

Yes. Every story on this page opens in full, and the work wall holds every story UPWARD has published, across law, healthcare and construction. Every client is referenceable: ask us for a phone number and call them.

Do you build for firms outside Colorado? +

Yes. UPWARD is a studio in Boulder, and its law clients include a trial firm in Kansas City, a solo practice in Rockwall, Texas, and a litigation firm with offices across the United States.

What makes a law firm website good? +

Four things, in our experience: the story is written before a page is designed, the photographs are of the firm's own people, the firm owns the site outright, and it is built to be read by search engines and AI assistants.

Do you take personal injury work? +

No. UPWARD works with reputation-first firms: defense, construction, commercial and boutique litigation. We do not take personal injury work.

How long does a rebuild take? +

Most firm engagements run eight to twelve weeks from first conversation to launch: story first, then design, then photography, then build. We take on a small number of clients at a time on purpose, so the work gets real attention.

The ask

A referral gets you considered. Your website decides whether you get called.

A conversation

One conversation, with the two of us. No account manager between you and the people who'd do the work. And if you're happy with what you've got, that's fine too.

Cody usually replies within a business day.
