Law firm website design in Colorado

We're a studio of two in Boulder. The Front Range is home, and it's where we shoot most often, from Denver to Fort Collins.

UPWARD designs and builds law firm websites in Colorado from a studio in Boulder. We photograph on location anywhere on the Front Range, and our Colorado law clients include Nelson Law Firm in Denver and Wick & Trautwein in Fort Collins. We price each build after a first conversation, and the firm owns the site.

Boulder

A studio of two in Boulder

UPWARD is the two of us, Cody and Holly Strate, running a small studio in Boulder. The story, the website design and the build are made here, and so is the plan for every shoot, because the photographs are part of the story and get planned with it.

Holly studied Environmental Design at CU Boulder, then spent years in forensic architecture on construction defect cases, leading the field teams that documented the evidence behind them, for plaintiffs and for the defense. When a construction defect firm hires us, we know the work from the inside.

Cody shoots professionally too, sports and motorsport when the weekend allows, which is why the attorneys we photograph end up looking like the professionals they are. We take on a small number of clients at a time, so the people you meet in the first conversation are the people who do the work.

Denver

Denver: Nelson Law Firm

Nelson Law Firm is Colorado's preeminent construction defect firm: the specialists homeowners and HOAs call when a home, or a whole community, is built wrong. Its clients run from Denver and the Front Range to the mountain towns.

Founder Mark Nelson has spent more than thirty years in the practice, with more than half a billion dollars recovered and over a thousand cases resolved. None of that reached the people looking for it. The old site opened on a Denver skyline any firm could use, and construction defect sat as one line in a menu of six practice areas.

We rebuilt the story around the work that defines the firm, photographed and filmed Mark and the team in their own offices, and built the site for AI search optimization, to be read by search engines and AI assistants as clearly as by people. Then we stayed. Traffic doubled in two years, visitors stay three times as long, and as of September 21, 2026, the firm is a leading name in AI answers for construction defect in Colorado.

How an assistant decides who to name is in why ChatGPT doesn't recommend your law firm. The whole story is in the Nelson Law Firm story.

Fort Collins

Fort Collins: Wick & Trautwein

For over fifty years, Wick & Trautwein has served Northern Colorado and Wyoming: construction, business, litigation, and estates. It's a legacy built on generations of trusted relationships.

With its founders stepping back and younger attorneys stepping up, the firm needed to honor the past and lean into the future at once, and the old site did neither. We designed for permanence: bronze and white, extreme negative space, and a Colorado identity worn quietly rather than shouted. That balance is easy to get wrong, too nostalgic in one direction or too eager to modernize in the other, so we built the story and the design together and neither won out.

The story work captured the firm's community roots, the quality of its bench and its client-first values, in a modern voice that reflects where the firm is headed. Kevin C. Havelda, a member attorney at the firm, put it this way: “Our collaboration with UPWARD transformed our website from merely functional to truly representative of our firm's legacy and forward-thinking approach.”

Across the Front Range

Across the Front Range, we come to you

Colorado's Front Range is home and where we shoot most often. For a firm in Longmont, Loveland, Broomfield, Golden or Colorado Springs, that means on-location photography: your attorneys, your office, your town.

We plan the frames your site, profiles and marketing need before the shoot, so the day is spent on the photographs that carry the story. Aerial work is part of it when the subject deserves the wider view. The photograph at the top of this page is from an aerial series we made for Nelson Law Firm's construction defect practice: a Denver-area subdivision with the mountains on the horizon.

If your firm is elsewhere in Colorado, the answer is the same. We come to you, and the photographs are yours to use however you see fit.

Beyond Colorado

We build nationally and travel for photography

Colorado is home, and the work goes wherever the firm is.

Kansas City is a second home. For Scharnhorst Ast Kennard Griffin, a Kansas City trial firm of more than twenty attorneys, we led the messaging from the ground up, rebuilt every attorney profile to one clear structure and directed the photography on location. The firm runs its own site day to day.

In Texas, Tim Hartley runs a firm of one in Rockwall, and we built his website around honest scale and real personality. Knight MacKay Morrow, a premium litigation firm with offices across the country, is one of our longest-running partnerships.

For a Colorado firm, the studio is close and so are the references: every client on this site is referenceable, Colorado's included, and law firm sites we've built are in our law firm website examples. By size, see website design for small law firms and solo attorney website design, or go back to website design for law firms.

The work UPWARD did for our firm exceeded expectations. Our new website not only looks incredible, but it truly represents who we are and the level of service we provide. Cody took the time to understand our firm, refine our messaging, and provide us with insights into the digital landscape that will benefit us for years to come.
